Beaches & Dunes

Start your next outdoor adventure by visiting some of the best beach areas in the Northwest. The Eugene, Cascades & Coast region hosts an abundance of beaches from its inland lakes and rivers to the sandy beaches and salty surf of the Pacific Ocean. Lying in the western slopes of the Cascade Mountains, Waldo Lake is a popular destination for kayaking and sailing and is known for its sandy beaches and pure, azure- blue water.

On the coast, the Oregon Dunes National Recreation Area has an expansive area of wind-sculpted dunes stretching from Florence to Coos Bay. This area provides numerous recreational opportunities such as hiking, fishing, horseback riding, and dune buggy rides. Beachcombers can search for shells, crabs, and agates along the shore or view local shorebirds and seabirds. You can also find great beach access at the South Jetty at the mouth of the Siuslaw River or at Washburne State Park, just north of Florence.
