Spring Adventures

Can you name the blooms in the first picture above? (See answer at bottom of page).

Notice the spring in your step as you venture along the trails and bike paths of the Eugene, Cascades & Coast region of Oregon this season.

On the Oregon Coast

Head to Florence for family fun from the top of the sand dunes to the depths of Sea Lion Caves, the world's largest sea cave!

  • Ride the dunes at Sand Master Park, the world's first sandboarding park
  • Explore these giant waves of sand in a fast and furious dune buggy for six or on a leisurely tour for 20
  • Head to the bluffs for great whale watching
  • Descend 208 feet to see Steller sea lions in their native habitat at Sea Lion Caves
  • And don't forget to have ice cream in historic Old Town Florence
Follow the Flowers

Spring showers bring flowers from the crest of the Cascades to the edge of the Oregon Coast. Look for these iconic blooms on your next visit to Eugene, Cascades & Coast.

Native rhododendrons can be found throughout the region, but are especially revered on the Oregon Coast. Florence has been celebrating their arrival every May since 1908 at the annual Rhododendron Festival.

Beautiful purple camas and pond lilies can be found in the low wetland areas of the Willamette Valley. Visit the wildflower meadows at Mount Pisgah Arboretum and attend the Wildflower Festival in May to learn about these and other native Oregon flora.

Enjoy mile after country mile of golden daffodils during Junction City's Daffodil Drive at the end of March. Join the Greater Eugene Area Riders for a scenic bike ride to the festival from Eugene.

Wine Weekends

From trendy downtown tasting rooms to grand, Tuscan-inspired chateaus, sip and savor your way through wine country just a short drive from the Eugene metro area.
  • In what have become annual, even anticipated, occasions, many local wineries host special Memorial Day weekend events. Included are barrel tastings, open houses, and live concerts.
  • Celebrate International Migratory Bird Day with guided walks, speakers, tastings, and a tour of local wineries at the Fern Ridge Wings & Wine Festival on May 8, 2010.
