Oregon Coast

Explore the most dramatic part of a dazzling Oregon shoreline when you travel Lane County.  There are few rivals to equal the Florence to Cape Perpetua segment of this National Scenic Byway for sheer variety and intensity of striking vistas.  Just a little over an hour from Eugene, the distinctive Oregon Coast is hugged by iconic Highway 101.

Oregon's shores harbor the world's largest sea lion cave, and less than a mile away you will find yourself at red-crowned, century-old Heceta Head Lighthouse.  Whale watching is easy sport from this vantage point, with winter and spring migration prime for sightings.

Favorite coastal activities include thrilling dune buggy rides and sand-boarding at the Oregon Dunes National Recreation Area, a vast swath of burnished sand that extends for 5 miles inland from the white-capped Pacific Ocean and 42 miles south from Florence's historic seaside "Old Town.”  Here salt-water taffy, shopping, and waterfront dining are all top-notch and part of the fun.

A choice of classic “links” golf experiences is yours to be had, as is an afternoon spent discovering diverse birding and marine habitat best explored perched atop your kayak. When evening arrives, watch the tide roll in or roll the dice at Three Rivers Casino gaming tables.  A moonlit amble on the beach is an essential element of every Oregon Coast pilgrimage, where paradise is yours with every salt-filled breeze.

Vist the Oregon Coast for exhilaration, relaxation, and the creation of stellar memories as you Travel Oregon.
