In summer, the McKenzie River Arts Festival held on the grounds of beautiful Tokatee golf course brings together local artists and musicians for a weekend long celebration. In winter, the McKenzie River Valley lights up the holidays as area non-profit organizations illuminate the area's covered bridges.

Picturesque picnic spots line the river, and easy as well as challenging hikes pass through diverse landscapes from lava fields to rainforest.
