The Oregon Coast
The drive to Florence is just over an hour through the country side and coast range. Highway 126 winds along the Siuslaw River and through the woods before reaching Highway 101 in Florence. Here you have many opportunities to witness the natural beauty of Oregon as well as explore the quaint town of Florence.
Here are just a few points of interest in Florence you won't want to miss.
Heceta Head Lighthouse
On the west side of 1,000-foot-high Heceta Head, 205 feet above the ocean, the lighthouse is one of the most photographed on the coast. The light at
the top of the 56-foot tower was illuminated in 1894; the automated beacon, seen 21 miles from land,
is rated as the strongest light on the Oregon coast.
Visit Heceta Head Lighthouse while in Florence.
Sea Lion Caves
Sea Lion Caves is nature's home for wild sea lions and a variety of sea birds. Sea Lion Caves is located just 11 miles North of Florence on the Oregon Coast.
The vast cavern with the roar of the great Steller sea lions, the cries of the wailing birds, and the restless surge of the ocean into the cave below, form an unforgettable experience. Formation of the cavern began about 25 million years ago. It now soars to the height of a 12- story building and stretches the length of a football field. You will descend the elevator to view the cavern.
Dune Buggy Rides
For a unique, once-in-a-lifetime adventure, you must experience the Oregon sand dunes by sand-rail. Choose an exhilarating ride on a smaller, faster sand-rail or a more relaxing, slower tour on a giant, multi passenger dune buggy. A great way to see the beautiful Oregon coast! Reserve your dune buggy tour now!

The Aufderheide Segment of the West Cascades Scenic Byway
This scenic byway, connecting Highways 126 and 58, winds through the lush undergrowth of the majestic Willamette National Forest and meanders along the cold, clear waters of the McKenzie and Willamette Rivers. This route is generally closed from November until early April.
McKenzie River Valley
Located less than an hour from Eugene-Springfield, the McKenzie River Valley's communities of Leaburg, Blue River and McKenzie Bridge are blessed with old-growth forest, as well as many miles of riverfront hiking and mountain biking trails. Filbert and u-pick fruit and berry farms line the winding road that bridges the course from an urban experience to riverine delights.
The McKenzie River Valley corridor is one of the most beautiful and picturesque drives in Lane County. With towering trees and lush vegetation framing the highway and the river below.
